A coalition of political parties, civil society organizations, and tribal leaders in Port Sudan has vehemently condemned foreign interference in Sudan’s internal affairs and denounced the atrocities committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
In a joint statement released on Saturday, the groups expressed their unwavering support for the Sudanese people and their armed forces in their resistance against foreign-backed aggression. They accused the RSF of carrying out a campaign of terror, including widespread killings, looting, and sexual violence against civilians, in blatant violation of international humanitarian law.
The statement highlighted the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan, particularly in regions under RSF control, and called on the international community to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to those affected by the conflict.
The coalition further denounced the RSF’s siege of El Fasher and its obstruction of humanitarian aid, as well as the group’s targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The groups reaffirmed their commitment to the implementation of the Jeddah Declaration and rejected any attempts to replace it with the Geneva framework, which they viewed as a plot to undermine Sudan’s sovereignty.
“We will not allow foreign powers to dictate our future,” said Salah, emphasizing the determination of the Sudanese people to resist foreign interference and achieve a democratic transition.
The coalition called on the international community to exert pressure on the RSF to cease hostilities and engage in meaningful dialogue to find a peaceful solution to the conflict.
