The value of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deals worldwide increased by 11.7% year-on-year to reach $1.2 trillion in the first half of 2024, according to S&P Global, even though the number of transactions declined.

However, the number of M&A deals declined by 12.9% to 19,415 in the six months ended June 30, compared to the year-ago period, the S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Global M&A and Equity Offerings Report showed on Thursday.
